Kristina’s Priorities

Bringing Good-Paying Jobs to Tacoma

Kristina strives to support and empower Tacoma's youth, expand economic opportunity by attracting new businesses that will create good-paying local jobs, improve multimodal transportation and protect access to green spaces for all to enjoy.

Improving Community Safety

Kristina believes that expanding community engagement programs and investing in people is the only way Tacoma will improve public safety for everyone. She’s working to implement the chief's crime plan, ensure the police force is fully-staffed and invest in alternative response units.

Expanding Affordable Housing for All

Kristina believes we have a responsibility to address disparities in home ownership. She sponsored a disparity study in 2020, which led to larger investments in the Black Homeownership program. On the council, she has worked to expand shelter options, increase safe parking, and build the affordable housing trust fund.

Reducing Environmental Impacts

Kristina believes that no matter where you live, you deserve access to clean water and air. She has worked to expand the free tree program across the city to improve the quality of the air we breathe, strengthened environmental protections in the Port and invested $17 million to combat climate change.

Protecting and Building Our Community

In her first term on City Council, Kristina worked diligently to create more opportunity, close equity gaps and address disparities that exist for people of color and vulnerable communities.

Achieving Zero Gun Violence in Tacoma

Last year was the deadliest on record for our city, largely because of gun violence in our community. Kristina knows we must get guns off our streets by implementing common-sense gun safety reforms and investing in proven community violence intervention efforts at the scale of this crisis.
